On Friday 25 November a team of water experts from Witteveen+Bos has concluded a first visit to the city of Alappuzha in the Indian state of Kerala. The mission was initiated and supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in India upon a request by the Government of Kerala. It is linked to the cultural heritage programme of the Embassy. The objective was to develop short-term and long-term sustainable solutions for the quality of the canals in the city.
On the 8th of November 2016, the Indian government announced the scheme that all the 500 and 1000 Rupee bank notes would from that point on, no longer be legal tender.
